The Resource Connection offers programs and services to residents throughout Calaveras County, a rural county covering approximately 1,020 square miles and home to nearly47,000 residents. Despite a 16% increase in population between 2000 and 2007, the racial and ethnic diversity of the county has remained relatively static over the last two decades; U.S.Census estimates from 2008 state that approximately 93% of residents identify themselves as White, 10% as Hispanic or Latino, 1.8% as American Indian and Alaska Natives, 1.5% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 1.2% as African American, and 2.6% as two or more races.
