My neighbor has been watching my child after school while I work.  She just informed me that she can no longer watch him/her. Can the Resource Connection help?

The Resource Connection can help you look for another alternative. The staff keeps information on licensed family child care homes and centers and legally license-exempt child care centers throughout Amador and Calaveras counties.  Referral services are free and help is available to explain the various options.

I’m a single mom working for minimum wage and I can’t make ends meet.  Can the Resource Connection help?

There are various programs throughout each county that may be able to assist you. Your first step is to complete an application on the Centralized Eligibility List. Eligibility for most of the subsidized child care programs is based on parental income and needs. While enrollment in the CEL does not guarantee that you will be enrolled in a state-funded program, the CEL will help you apply for the subsidized services that best meet your family’s needs. You can access the CEL by Internet or by calling the Resource Connection offices.

I’m going to have a baby in three months and I will need to go back to work.  Can the Resource Connection help me find someone to care for my baby?

Choosing good child care is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. It takes time and effort, so it’s good to start early. The Resource Connection can provide free child care referrals in Amador and Calaveras counties to providers in licensed family child care homes and child care centers or license-exempt centers.  Resource Connection staff can also describe the different types of care available, and suggest questions to consider and ask potential child care providers in order to find the type of care that best suits your family’s needs.

How do I input my information on the CEL?

If you call the Resource Connection during business hours, a staff member will help you input the application information.  You can also come by the offices and use a computer set up for CEL users.
