How can I keep track of the state budget or legislation that might affect children and families?
The Resource Connection cannot lobby or offer advice on a specific issue; instead, the Resource Connection aims to provide information about new legislation that may be of concern to families and children through the legislative page of its quarterly newsletter.

How many families and children need child care in Calaveras and Amador counties?
The resource and referral department keeps track of the number of families that need child care and the areas in which care is being requested. The Resource Connection also documents the ages and hours that are requested by area.
The Resource Connection assesses the community need for child care based on information such as population and income data, community survey results, public assistance programs, geography, and the number of children with exceptional needs or linguistic and cultural consideration.
I qualify for child care assistance, but was told there is not enough funding to help all families. This needs to change. Who can I call?
Your elected officials make decisions about funding priorities. If you think it's important for the government to provide greater support for working families, you should contact your local, state and federal elected officials to urge them to act responsibly toward children and parents in their constituencies. Residents of Calaveras County can contact their board of supervisors, state senator, and state representative; residents of Amador County can contact their board of supervisors, state senator, and state representative. Residents of both counties can contact their U.S. senator and congressman.
You can also join Parent Voices and learn how to be a leader and advocate for what your family, and others like it, needs.
What are the benefits of employer-sponsored child care and how can I get more information?
There are different types of child care assistance that employers can provide to employees. They range from on-site child care and financial assistance to flexible hours and referrals to service agencies. The Resource Connection is happy to assist you in determining your employee needs and identifying resources to help you determine options that might work best for your situation.
