POLICY & PLANNING

Since the foundation of a child’s learning potential is his/her physical and mental well being, the Resource Connection’s Early Childhood Programs offer a variety of health services to families with children birth to five and pregnant women.. Comprehensive health services assist in children’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social development.

Health Services Include:

  • Assistance in obtaining up-to-date Physical Exams and immunizations
  • Assistance in obtaining health insurance
  • Assistance in obtaining a medical and dental home
  • On-site hearing, vision, height/weight, developmental, social-emotional screenings for children performed by trained staff
  • Assistance in obtaining treatment for identified medical conditions
  • On-site dental exams scheduled two times per program year
  • Daily fluoride program offered for children 18 months of age and older enrolled in center based programs.
  • Preventative Health education activities are integrated into daily schedule and curriculum (handwashing, toothbrushing, covering your cough,the importance of healthy eating and physical activity, etc.)
  • Staff work with both family and community to enhance health care skills, knowledge, attitudes, availability and affordability.
  • Family Advocates and Home Visitors assist pregnant women and new mothers in accessing prenatal and postpartum health care.
